Quickfire Questions with Nicola Yoon Transcript
Hey everybody, Nicola Yoon here and I’m so happy to be answering some questions.
What was your favourite book as a teenager?
Probably every Harlequin romance ever written and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Who is your favourite author?
I can’t choose, I cannot. It’s so hard! Um, let’s see, I’ll say Toni Morrison and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Just to name two, but that’s definitely not the full list.
Which character from a book have you dreamed about being in a romantic relationship with?
I have never never never dreamed of being in a romantic relationship with any character in a book strangely.
What do you love about reading?
I love getting to live other lives, it’s the same thing that I love about writing.
eBooks or paper books?
Paper books definitely, a thousand times paper books, no contest.
Proudest moment?
Giving birth to my daughter, followed closely by getting married to my husband who I love so much.
Favourite place in the world?
In bed, snuggling with the aforementioned husband and daughter.
City, countryside or beach?
The beach. I grew up in Jamaica, yeah I love the beach.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid I wanted to be airline stewardess when I grew up.
What makes you happy?
Most things make me happy, I’m a generally very optimistic kind of person.
Favourite song at the moment?
I have two; Burn the Witch by Radiohead and Formation by Beyonce.
Favourite photograph?
My favourite photo is of me and my husband and my daughter when she was 6 months old. We were in Hawaii and there was sun setting behind us and it was kind of glorious.
Favourite item of clothing?
Probably my Little Prince t-shirt that I’m wearing right now. See? Okay.
What motto do you live your life by?
I think you really have to want to be happy and I try to live my life like that.
Notebook or laptop?
Definitely notebooks, I write into moleskine notebooks from 4-6am most days.
