What was your favourite book as a teenager?
My favourite book as a teenager was Forever… by Judy Blume. Amazing! It was a little bit naughty…
Who is your favourite author?
Favourite author would be Jane Green, or Cecilia Ahern, or Adele Parks
What is your favourite book of all time?
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. It just is amazing!
What is your favourite book that you’ve read recently?
My Map of You by Isabelle Broom. It’s lovely and brilliant; it’s her debut so very very good.
Who is your favourite character from a book?
The first one that pinged to mind was Edward Cullen. The teen girl in me said Edward Cullen so I’m going to go with that, Edward Cullen.
Is there a book that you wish you wrote?
I wish I wrote Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. It’s such a simple idea but thought-provoking and just epic on so many levels so yep I’ll say that.
What is your favourite book to film adaptation?
Atonement. Atonement. I think it’s done so well. Usually I go and see them and I’m really annoyed with how they’ve changed things but it was honest to the book and I absolutely loved it. I absolutely adored the adaptation.
Which character from a book would you have as your best friend?
I would say Carly from my own book in Dream a little Dream. She’s just so lovely and funny and I actually love the bond between her and Sarah the lead character so I would have Carly as my actual best friend, please.
Which character from a book would you have as your boyfriend?
Well seeing as he popped into my head I’m going to say Edward Cullen because he’s back in my head for some reason. I thought I’d forgotten about him but he’s back!
What do you love about reading?
I think I love the fact that you can go off in your own space in your head but be surrounded by people and spaces and places. And also what’s amazing about a book is that a lot of people could read it but see different things whereas with a film obviously you all go and see the same thing. I think books really channel into your creativity and imagination and I just love them.
What’s the best thing about being a writer?
The best thing about being a writer would be that I get to spend 90% of my time in my pyjamas and eating nutella. Yeah, nutella and pyjamas.
eBooks or paper books?
Paper books. I do have an eBook reader now or are they called eReaders? eReaders. I have an eReader but yeah there’s nothing quite like feeling the paper in your hands and also seeing how far you are into a book. I like that, I like feeling it.
I think my proudest moment would be publication day of Billy and Me. That was pretty special.
Favourite place in the world?
Favourite place in the world would be Jade Mountain which is where we went on our Honeymoon in St. Lucia and it is absolutely incredible. The hotel room has three walls and there’s no wall on that fourth wall and you just get a view of the Pitons and there’s an infinity pool and its absolutely amazing and there’s no WiFi or anything so you have to go there and switch off so I’d like to go back there please.
City, countryside or beach?
Countryside. I love the countryside. I could go on country walks all day long and not be bored.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I really wanted to be an actor. I think I wanted that for a long time and then as I got older that kind of… using those skills in a different way is how it evolved.
What was your favourite subject at school?
My favourite subject at school other than acting was actually maths. I was very clever and I loved maths, which might be quite surprising but I actually took my maths GCSE early and then I did my maths A Level but I found a social life at that point, I missed a few lessons then everything became really complicated. I’d love to do it at some point to prove that I can do it.
Cats or dogs?
Cats. I’m a cat lover. I’ve got two cats. I can’t possibly say dogs because the cats might hear.
What makes you happy?
I think laughter and smiling makes me happier. Making other people laugh, making other people smile, making other people feel good. And also my family, a day with them feels my heart with joy.
Favourite song at the moment?
The Selena Gomez one that I can’t remember. Something about ‘We don’t talk anymore’. I don’t even know if it’s over here. I’ve just been to Italy and it was on the radio ALL the time so me and my family have literally been singing that to each other.
Favourite text/tweet you’ve received recently?
Actually my brother sent me a text message picture of a car that he’s bought Buzz, which is a lightning McQueen car and it’s just amazing, it’s going to blow his mind!
Favourite photograph would have to be of my two boys sitting side by side, actually they’re in bed and they’re both just smiling at the camera and it’s absolutely adorable.
Favourite item of clothing?
My maternity clothes, all of them! Nothing else fits.
Favourite quote of all time?
I don’t even know if this is a real quote, it’s “kill it with kindness”, kind of what I live by. If someone is mean to you, kill it with kindness because it will make you feel better and it can dissolve the situation.
What motto do you live your life by?
Kill it with kindness. I just think it makes you feel better to just be kind when other people aren’t quite so kind.
Favourite place to read?
I love to read in bed in my pyjamas under the duvet, perfect.
Favourite place to write?
I love to write in my office, being cut off from the rest of the house and surrounded by things I love.
Notebook or laptop?
Laptop, my hand writing is awful these days!
