The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily – WHSmith Review
The sequel to Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares gets off to a sad start as we learn that our fairytale couple has been struggling to keep the magic alive during a stressful year. Winter is Lily’s favourite season and usually she can’t wait to get the Christmas tree up and start spreading the festive cheer, but this year she says she’s ‘just not feeling it right now’. Dash and Lily’s brother Langston are concerned and so set in motion a plan to kickstart Lily’s Christmas spirit. But with just 12 days left until Christmas day, can they perk Lily up in time to enjoy Christmas in New York together?
This is a slightly more serious book than the first, as Lily struggles with the big changes and decisions that come with growing up. There’s still that light, funny and slightly chaotic feel to Dash and Lily’s lives, but also more than a few moments of miscommunication that will have you shouting at the page in frustration. Despite Lily’s lack of enthusiasm, this book is still full of Christmas trees, lights, eggnog, jumpers and all the things that get you in the mood for the holidays; perfect for getting you ready to cosy up for the winter. Alcohol, drugs, strong language and mention of sex feature in this story.
