There’s nothing like a portrait to really show off your sketching skills and seeing as it was the anniversary of Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s birth last week, we decided to celebrate by selecting him as the subject for #SketchOff on Tuesday 17th May. Asking you to recreate a grainy black and white photograph of the King of crime fiction was no easy task but once again you amazed us with the quality of your entries. As the clock struck 7:30 and we revealed the monochrome portrait, you got stuck in sketching, shading and toning to produce some wonderful artwork by the 9pm deadline.
Take a look at a selection of the fantastic submissions we received below and see if you can spot yours. Let us know in the comments below which one is your favourite and don’t forget to join us for the next #SketchOff on Tuesday 31st May at 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
*We have attempted to include as many submissions as possible in our gallery, but unfortunately we could not include everyone. All submissions have been considered for our competition prizes, and your art will have had every chance of winning even if you can’t spot your artwork in our gallery*
