Because Jule’s life is one of continuous hardscrabble, always scraping through, always reinventing herself.

E. Lockhart is one of my favourite authors and anything she releases goes instantly to the top of my reading pile.
She is probably the YA Queen of thriller and suspense and this book is looking like it will be her best yet.
Friendship. Murder. Weapons. Bad romances. What more could you want from a book?

See How They Lie by Sue Wallman
I read Lying About Last Summer by Sue Wallman when it was included in the Zoella Book Club and I loved it.
Her writing was brilliant, I loved the tension she created and there were so many twists and turns. So when I saw this book I knew I had to read it. It has been on my ‘to be read’ pile from the moment it was released and I need to make time for it before the end of the year.

Audrey is over romance. Since her parents’ relationship imploded her mother’s been catatonic, so she takes a cinema job to get out of the house. But there she meets wannabe film-maker Harry. Nobody expects Audrey and Harry to fall in love as hard and fast as they do.

It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne
Holly Bourne is one of my favourite authors ever. You’ve probably heard of her hugely successful trilogy about a group of girls who form a brilliant feminist group and work to make the world a better place whilst dealing with the ups, downs, and occasional hilarity of being a teenager. This is her next novel, a standalone, and having read the sampler I am desperate for more!

Harry Potter: A History Of Magic is the official book of the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition from the brilliant curators of the British Library. This enhanced ebook takes readers on a fascinating journey through the subjects studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Harry Potter: A History of Magic
I’m a bit of a Harry Potter fan, so when I heard that the British Library were hosting a Harry Potter exhibition to celebrate 20 years of Harry Potter being first published, I was a little excited and with this book coming out, showing not only artefacts from collections around the world, but essays from cultural commentators, academics and respected writers and exclusive manuscript, sketches and illustrations from the Harry Potter archive, this looks like a must for me and Harry Potter fans!

I’m mostly intrigued by Genuine Fraud because of the ambiguity around all the things I’ve read about it so far. I actually have no idea what it’s about, and it really works because the main character is a fraud – or con-artist I guess – who has so many versions of herself that you don’t know what’s real and what’s not. And I get the feeling neither does she; or at least that’s what she’s trying to do because she’s running away from something. I’m looking forward to being kept on my toes and getting to the bottom of the whole thing!

Maddie’s not impulsive. She’s all about hard work and planning ahead. But one night, on a whim, she buys a lottery ticket. And then, to her astonishment — She wins! In a flash, Maddie’s life is unrecognizable. No more stressing about college scholarships. Suddenly, she’s talking about renting a yacht. And being in the spotlight at school is fun… until rumors start flying.

I haven’t read any books by Kasie West before but so many of them seem exactly like the kind of book I’d go for.
I’m not sure how I’ve gone so long without picking one of them up. They all sound great but I think I want to start with Lucky in Love because it sounds cute and promising when it comes to romance. I do love a good YA romance novel.

The fiery, action-packed sequel to the New York Times bestselling Frostblood, perfect for fans of Red Queen and Throne of Glass. ‘A fierce and vibrant world’ Morgan Rhodes, bestselling author ‘Hypnotising’ Benjamin of TomesIce and fire are still at war.
Zoe Collins (nosaferplace.blogspot.co.uk)
Frostblood was one of my favourite books of 2016 and the sequel Fireblood looks set to be even better. Book one introduced us to a world of magical powers, where Ice over-ruled the land and Firebloods were far and few between. Now Ruby is back, and Fire and Ice are at war. Fantasy is a hard genre to get right but Elly has done it perfectly and has created the most incredible world. I can’t even express how excited I am for this book…is it September yet?

Bella Fisher is back and is cool, calm and collected as ever. So: NOT EVEN REMOTELY. Her fledgling relationship with Hot Adam seems to have stalled mid-flight, her big sister Jo has gone off to university leaving Bella to deal with ditzy Mum on her own.

Truly Madly Awkward by Beth Garrod
Beth Garrod’s debut Super Awkward was one of my favourite books of last year. It literally made me laugh on every page. So, when I heard that Bella Fisher is back for more Truly Madly Awkward moments in September I did a little squeal of joy.
I can already feel myself smiling at the thought about how much laughter this book is going to instill in me and I can’t wait!

Trudchen grew up hearing Odette’s stories of their monster-slaying mother and a magician’s curse. But now that Tru’s older, she’s starting to wonder if her older sister’s tales were just comforting lies, especially because there’s nothing fantastic about her own life.

I’ve read two of Winters’ books so far; In the Shadow of Blackbirds and The Fear of Dreaming, and was utterly obsessed with both, so this is a must read for me. Both are a dark historical fiction with a touch of the supernatural; a combination that’s a big fat yes for me! In Odd & True we have two sisters; Odette and Trudchen. As with her other books this is set in the 1900’s, and I’m hearing the words ‘monster-slaying mother’, ‘magician’s curse’ and ‘suitcase full of weapons’, and I’m pretty much sold. If only they had a ’67 Impala to go with it.

On September 5th, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: they’re going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day.

They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
I can’t really explain why I am so excited to read this book. It just calls to me and the idea behind the book sounds like an exciting and slightly scary read. A few minutes after midnight, Mateo and Rufus get a call from Death-Cast, telling them bad news: they are going to die today. In their last hours, they decide to use an app to find and make a new friend on their End Day. The app chose each other and this is their story of their last great adventure…

Stacey Woods has been raped and now she has to go through a different ordeal – the court trial. But nothing in life it seems is black and white and life is not always fair or just. Suddenly it seems that she may not be believed and that the man who attacked her may be found not guilty…

Last year author Louise O’Neill hit me with her raw and hard hitting second YA novel Asking For It and it has always been on my mind ever since reading it so when I heard about Anne Cassidy’s new novel No Shame due to be published in October I knew I had to add it to my list of anticipated reads for the rest of this year. No Shame is a companion novel to Cassidy’s previous novel No Virgin and explores the gruelling process one young woman must go through to bring her rapist to justice which I have heard Anne was moved to write after reading about the real-life cases of Ched Evans, Brock Turner and the Bradford grooming ring. No Shame is sure to be a thought provoking read.

Fifteen-year-old Grace is funny and plain-spoken. Just because she has Asperger’s doesn’t mean she’s great at maths (she’s not) or can draw the Eiffel Tower from memory (she can’t). Like any teenager, Grace just wants to fit in, so when it turns out that the cutest boy in school likes her, she finds herself falling in with the cool crowd.

As a blogger, I’m immediately attracted to books about blogging. It’s so interesting to read about it from the outside when you’ve been part of it for so long, and I’ve heard that this book is hilarious. I do love funny YA! Additionally, my friend Jim (@YAYeahYeah on Twitter) bought SEVENTEEN COPIES of this because he liked it that much. I think that speaks volumes, don’t you?

Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher
Whenever I do one of these posts, Giovanna Fletcher always pops up. She’s not strictly YA but I believe a person of any age can enjoy her books. She has a way of writing that fills you with hope and optimism, but also keeping her words true to life. Some Kind of Wonderful is a woman’s journey of finding herself again, after a failed relationship and it sounds fabulous. I’ve not found a book of hers, that I’m yet to love, so this can not come out quick enough.

The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman
I have been waiting for this book since I finished The Amber Spyglass back in 2000. 17 years most of us fans have been waiting for this book and, at last, we’re going to get the first volume of The Book of Dust. I know very little about this book (I have actively avoid any information about this book), but I know this is set years before Northern Lights, when Lyra is a baby. So, am very intrigued to find out what happened with these characters and how Philip Pullman is going to expand this world…

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since Aelin shattered the glass castle, since Chaol’s men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan…

At the beginning of the year I hadn’t read a single book by Sarah J Maas because fantasy books just didn’t appeal to me. Then I picked up A Court of Thorns and Roses after so many people recommended it and I’ve been hooked on her books ever since. I’ve now read all of her books and am patiently waiting for Tower of Dawn, the next book in the Throne of Glass series, to come out. The beginning of September will be solely dedicated to this book.

Having managed to find her great-grandmother’s potion diary, escape Emilia Thoth, save her grandfather’s memories AND become a Master Alchemist, surely it’s time for Sam to have a good, long rest? And maybe, just maybe, a date with her boyfriend Zain?

Okay, this is kind of cheating because I haven’t read any of the books in this series yet – and I really want to! They sound fresh and exciting, a mash-up of genres, and of course Amy is part of the #ZoellaBookClub. Once this is out, I’ll be getting stuck in and I can’t wait.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
There’s something so powerful and touching about the message of this book, and that’s just from what I’ve read of the blurb! ‘Death-Cast’ calls two guys to let them know today is the day they die. They’re total strangers, but they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day so they use an app called Last Friend to meet. There’s one line in the synopsis; “meet up for up for one last great adventure and to live a lifetime in a single day” that just really hits me. It’s not about surviving or fighting the inevitable; it’s about really living in that time you have left. I think that’s a powerful message for all of us.

Another author I absolutely love has a new book out in September and I am so excited. I absolutely adore E Lockhart. She is simply amazing and her new book Genuine Fraud is set to be a masterful psychological suspense novel which I hear is a kind of female take of The Talented Mr Ripley but E Lockhart style and I know this book is going to have me enthralled on each page.
