Veronica Henry: Sam’s Hot Buttered Calvados Cider Recipe

  2. 40g unsalted butter
  3. 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  4. 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  5. 250ml Calvados
  6. 250ml apple juice
  7. 600ml cider
  8. Nutmeg

Method

Gently melt the butter, syrup and cinnamon in a heavy bottomed pan.

Pour over the Calvados and heat through.

Add the apple juice and cider and warm thoroughly for a couple of minutes, being careful not to boil.

Ladle into mugs and top with a sprinkling of freshly grated nutmeg.
