Including many of the features that we know and love from the Kobo Aura HD, including a 6.8 inch touchscreen, 4GB storage with room for a micro SD card and a 1GHZ processor, the Aura H2O has also received an upgrade with an improved e-ink carta display and a thinner and lighter design. Retaining many of Kobo’s most-loved features, this waterproof device includes 10 fonts and 24 font sizes and ensures a comfortable reading experience with its built in front light; ComfortLight, which diffuses light across the screen to minimise eye strain.
For those of you still struggling with the thought of dropping your eReader in the bath and not immediately panicking, you may be interested to know that the Aura H2O has been certified an IP number of 67. The first number – 6 – refers to an electronic device’s protection against solid objects (such as dust or sand) and the scale ranges from 0; not protected, to 6; completely protected. The second number – 7 – refers to its protection against liquid, and the scale ranges from 0; not protected, to 7; protected when immersed up to 1 metre. In other words, IP67 certified means the Kobo Aura H2O tops the waterproof and dustproof scales!
On the other hand, there are always a few of us that can’t resist testing the water so to speak. We enjoyed watching Digital Trend’s dunk test that demonstrates how effortless it is to wipe this eReader off and carry on after accidental spillage.
