Pyjamas, Cakes and Feather Boas: WHSmith Staff Fundraise for World Cancer Day

Many of our staff chose to give a small donation to wear pink for the day, with some even choosing to come into work in pyjamas, feather boas, cowboy hats, curly wigs, fancy dress and some of the cosiest onesies we’ve ever seen! Staff also took part in static bike rides, cycling 225 miles (!!) to raise money for charity (you can sponsor our Stockport team here and our Blackpool team here), and the incredible Sarah Martin from our Whitehaven store shaved her head on World Cancer Day to raise money (you can sponsor her here.)

There were also tombolas, cake sales, name the teddy bear competitions, drawing competitions and loads more inventive ideas to raise money for Cancer Research UK from our staff in stores. Take a look at some of our favourite pictures from the day below:

Across the business we’ve raised over £100,000 so far for World Cancer Day 2017, and we’re still counting! We couldn’t be more proud of the generosity and charitable spirit so many of our staff members and customers showed on World Cancer Day, and we know there are plenty more exciting ideas in the pipeline to carry on fundraising for our three chosen charities this year (including a parachute jump and a marathon run!).

Use #WHS225 to join in with the conversation online and keep an eye out for JustGiving posts from our staff to support their fun and adventurous ideas.
