Preview Cartoonist Chris Ware’s Building Stories

Building Stories is a boxed set composed of cloth-bound books, newspapers, broadsheets and flip books, and took Chris ten years to create. Focusing on characters within a 3 storey apartment in Chicago, the stories are as intricate and impressive as the graphics, and the set has been designed in a way that can be enjoyed in any order. The collection won the National Cartoonist Society’s Graphic Novels Division Award in 2012 and went on to win another six awards in 2013. Features such as an accordion-like foldout section and a part that resembles a game board has won the admiration of many fellow cartoonists and earned Chris his place as one of the leading cartoon artists working today.

We thought we’d take some time to appreciate the elaborate and impressive design of this artistic boxed set – which has been enjoyed by cartoon and graphic fans around the world – by sharing some snaps of our favourite pieces.
