Our favourite back to school memories

Sitting at the back of the bus on a school trip and feeling like the coolest kid in class
Asking “when will I ever use this in real life?” about twice a week
Using a scientific calculator for the first time and immediately testing if you can still use it to write hello… you can.
The downpour of rain that would inevitably start 5 minutes into every sports day
Upgrading from a rucksack to a handbag as soon as you turned 13
Seeing the TV getting wheeled in from the back of the room and knowing it was going to be an easy lesson
Writing “I <3 ___” on your friend’s notebook with their crush’s name and waiting for them to notice
Finally delivering the perfect comeback to the class bully
When your teacher started counting down from 10 you knew there was going to be trouble
Getting your first organiser or diary and recording absolutely everything going on in your life- “meet abby for lunch” 12.30pm everyday for the rest of term
Standing up as soon as the bell rings and hearing your teacher say “the bell is for me, not for you”
Miming the words to songs during assembly and then having to join in for a few lines after a teacher made eye contact with you
Finishing a whole essay without using tipp-ex once and feeling like a champion
Awkward boy/girl/boy/girl seating plans

Always asking the kid with the high tech pencil sharpener if you could borrow it even though you had a basic one in your pencil case
Changing the clock in the classroom before your teacher arrived so that you could get out of class 5 minutes early
Not wanting to bin your exercise book at the end of the year because it contained some of your best doodles
Reading aloud to the class and suddenly feeling like your performance could be the make or break of you
Passing notes to your friends in class as soon as the teacher turned their back
Using blu tack like play dough to make jewellery and decorations for your desk
Screwing up paper into a ball and throwing it at the bin from your desk
Missing the bin by miles and having to get up from your desk anyway to put it in the bin
Covering your bathroom door in revision notes in the weeks leading up to exams
Days that finished at 3pm- if only the same was true of work!
