Fool Me Once is a story of an ex-military copter pilot, named Maya Burkett, and Maya comes back home to her normal life with her husband… he’s murdered.
A couple of week pass and she puts one of those nanny cams in the house, just to make sure their little daughter Lily is fine.
So one day she’s looking at the nanny cam after the nanny leaves, and all of a sudden she see’s playing with her child, her husband who was murdered two weeks earlier. How can that be?
That’s the start. That’s the hook that will bring you into Maya’s life.
Fool Me Once is the first time I’ve had – I’ve done female leads before – but this is the first time the entire book is from her view point. You are in her head the entire time. And I think she’s a pretty cool character.
She’s strong, she’s tough, she’s a little damaged. She suffers post-traumatic stress from her time in the war, and she’s full of surprises.
She may be, outside of Myron Bolitar, my favourite hero I’ve ever written. So I’m really excited for everybody to meet her.
