Each and every one of us has a children’s book that will always stay close to our hearts. It’s the book that we’ll share with our own kids as soon as they’re ready. The book that we fondly remember curling up with to escape rainy weekends and boring family events. The book that set us on a path to becoming the readers we are today. And so as we celebrate our 225th anniversary throughout 2017, we’ve been reminiscing on all the books that shaped and inspired us as children.
We caught up with some of the best-loved authors of recent years to find out which children’s books they look back on with fond memories. Some, such as Jilly Cooper and Rick Stein, chose books that they read and loved when they were small, while others, such as David Nicholls and Charles Cumming, picked books that they’d read more recently and loved experiencing with their own children. Watch the full video below to find out which stories they chose.
